My Packing So Far

I know I still have a few days til I ship but since this is my first time I have been slowly getting ready. I'm using a 12x12x8 box with 1" thick styrofoam sheets that I cut. I put some peanut foam on the bottom already. I don't have anything yet to put the gecko's in since it's a little hard to find the right size thing to put a 140 gram leo in..lol.. What do you think so far? Now all I need to do is put the leos in the middle and fill the rest in with peanut foam right?

The pre-made foam lined boxes come with a foam piece for the top as well. if you cut your side pieces 1 inch shorter you can add a piece the same size as the bottom one for the top.

I don't know what the crush rating would be on the box but you've done well with choosing the 1" foam. We use crumpled paper but we've gotten shipments from sellers who use packing peanuts or shredded paper. Make sure you wrap your cold pack with something to absorb the condensation.

I went to Home Depot today and got the sheets of styrofoam. They had different thickness styles and I thought the 1" would be ideal. It prolly would have been cheaper for me to just buy an insulated box but I have left over styrofoam that I'm sure will come in handy since I'm also an ebay seller and I ship often

Cut a piece for the top like Mel said. I have pics on our websight on packing and I think ProGeckos does as well. I haven't used peanuts for packing-do they keep the deli cups stable enough? We use newspaper on the bottom and around the cups and on top. There are diff size deli cups available to ship in. You don't want a lot of room for him so he doesn't get tossed around and hurt though.

Good point Marlo! I try to use the smallest deli cup that the gecko will fit in. So if the box gets tossed around at least the gecko won't go flying from side to side in the deli cup.
