My pet rat is ill :(

I think she may be trying to get pneumonia - she's lost weight and is breathing hard. I started her on Baytril tonight and will add Gentacin and Doxycycline in the AM. I will also Panacur her to make sure it's not parasites. I'm just basically throwing everything at her that we'd use at work. I lost my first pet rat to myco pneumonia and I really think I'm losing her too it too. She's eating for me if I put baby food on her feet and still cleaning herself, so that's a plus. She's about 2 -2 1/2 years old now. Both She and her sis had a major respiratory infection when I bought them, but I treated with Baytril and Gentacin and they pulled through.

Aww that sucks hopefully she pulls through, is her breathing raspy or anything? I had 6, lost one to a tumor, and one to unknown illness. They are such little personalities I hate it when they are sick. Good luck.

She's getting raspier by the day. This does not seem like its gonna end well, but I'm treating her with Baytril, doxycyline and Gentocin. I've dosed her with Panacur. She's getting Metacam nightly as that seems to help and make her want to eat some.

I'm doing everything that my boss has suggested. Next step would be an hour car ride to the nearest vet that sees little animals that I would actually go to.

She seems to be doing a bit better this AM. Last night she was really struggling to breath. I've moved her into my bedroom and put her cage on top of my incubator (that has chicken eggs in it) so she's setting on 101 temps and 42% humidity. She ate a bit of oatmeal on Monday for me and a bit of french toast stick today on her own.
