my poor car

Well, it seems like bad luck has found me. I'm sitting here in my car waiting for my Dad to come look at it. It's only 3 years old and i'm guessing the transmission is ruined. In a way, it's my fault. I should have had the transmission checked a few days ago because it's been a little jerky between gears but nothing that seemed major or to affect my car badly. Well, i was sitting at a light and went to accelerate and nothing happened. Then i turned it off and then back on and it accelerated but was screaming and smelling bad and i pulled over. So here i am. No warning lights or check fluid lights came on. Geesh, and my warantee isn't extended either. stupid pontiacs.

yeesh! i had a pontiac...it tried to kill me numerous times. i used to have to time stoplights so i wouldnt have to stop or else it would stall out. it also decided to shut down halfway through a turn onto a very busy street. i guess you get what you pay for in this case it was free =) haha

This is why I really hate Pontiacs...I'm so sorry Mallorie! I have had my car for years and years...its going on 15 years old and still running strong on it's first transmission and motor with over 250k on it. Thank you Honda!

i'm so sorry about your car. funny thing is my husbands dads radiator went out today so they been outside fixing it since why earlier today and one of our cars it needs a new alternator but we haven't had time to take it out and exchange it since its a pain to get to behind the passager wheel. Cars are so fun sometimes. Are we still on for next thursday if not I understand if you dont have a car to drive cuz believe me we have been there done that lol. I hope you can get it fixed and running and they fix it right transmissions are a funny thing its a hit&miss thing whether it will last after a new tranny. Good luck

Ugh... so super sorry for you .. I have problems with my car.. it's gotten the gas confused with accelerating backwords.. I hope you figure out whats wrong with the car and it's not too severe.

Well, good news. It was the compressor for the ac and it gave out and something was grinding together making noise and smelling because it was red-hot. I don't really remember how my Dad described it. lol. But it's not an expensive fix so yay!

glad to here you are not in need of a transmission.. I just blew mine up last month and they aren't cheap

Btw, change the filter and fluid in your transmission yearly and check the levels at every oil change. You will not find a vehicle on the market that has any warning lights for transmissions.

No problems here with my Pontiac.

Its just like any other car... if you take care of it and change fluids, check weak links periodically, check filters, a vehicle can last a very long time.

Everyone said the 90-93 dodge dakotas were junk... Well my parents 1992 model is at over 410,000 miles. I did a compression check on it about 4 months ago and it had lost something like ONLY 1.4% from what the factory specs are. Starts first crank, idles perfect, transmission is as smooth as a Bentley.// But of course our vehicles are religiously maintained. :main_thumbsup:
