Well, I'm in the middle of decorating my gecko home. I was told that using only fine grained sand wasn't a good idea, so I've mixed it at about 50-50 with unfertilized soil.

I haven't made the moist box yet, but it will be there soon.

Tell me what you think. :)

Just sand:

Looks great! I like that branch and the huge rock in the middle, they go together really well! Perhaps it will look even better if you have a few more rocks in there?

need to get a moisture-box inside there. And i was thinking about making a box so that it can be placed between the back wall, and the "island" in the middle. it will act as a under-passage, and a "bridge", as well as a moist box.

what you think?

you did a really great job. Sort of what I was wanting to do but instead of just sand on the floor I was going to lay slate rock with some moss inbetween the rocks. Make it more green but I think I will make 2 cages now since I like the look of this so much. One with a green feel and one with a desert feel like your's is. When you said you used bathroom cement. What did you mean by that? Ive never heard of bathroom cement. Do you mean grout? Im really interested in trying this out.

bathroom cement i translatet from norwegian :p Don`t know the english word, but it`s a type of cement that you use on your bathroom floor og wall before you put the tiles on.

The direct translation from norwegian would be "tile glue" But it`s not a glue. It`s bought in powder form like cement and mixed with water to a smooth paste that will dry and harden like cement.

Made any sense ?

Yeah, tiling grout. Its applied with a brush, and then showered in sand to give it the "desert" look.

Well, it does`t realy say anywhere we are norwegian.
But back to topic:) using grout to cover over styrofoam is a popular way of makeing background over here. The possibilites are endless with this metode :)
