hi, i made a thread in the introduce yourself part and alot of people noticed that one of my geckos was very under weight, he had stoped eating and that was a reason i joined this forum for help.

After trying things like waxworms, and that stil didnt work, i took him to the vet and she gave him an antibiotic injection, and liquid medicine i have to give him 3 times a day to help him empty his bladder bowels if theres anything stuck there, so i got to try feeding him in the morning and take him back to the vets in 2 days time.

i would just like to thank everyone who gave their advice and hopefully he will start to put on weight and be healthy again

There's a few things it could be... I'm not an expert so not going to go into detail but I definitely suggest taking him VETS asap, my lil' one isn't eating either and just been told from vets that he has salmonella which side effects include diarahea and vomitting (he's had neither!! - he's just not eating) and he is now on antibiotics which will hopefully clear it up in a weeks time. There's not much point going insane thinking about what it could be, take him to the vets as soon as you can and fingers crossed :)

thats the thing tho, i have taken him, and they just have given him another antibiotic injection. It doesnt seem to be doing anything to help him to eat. I took him back teh 2nd time and they gave the injection and said try feeding again. This hasnt worked...im worried when i go back they will just do the same so i was hoping maybe i could suggest something to them (i know they are the vets but stil anything that will help is needed)

What did they vets say was actually wrong with him? I'd recommend ringing another vets in your area (if there is one - only 1 near me!!) - and just asking for advice. I'm surprised they didn't do a fecal test?

they didnt know, they took a guess that when most reptiles go off their food they could be blocked up.

Last night tho i saw him go for a cricket.....he missed but atleast he's trying, right?

Yeah that's definitely a good sign. I'd ask the vets to test for parasites - because that's really common. Any vets should be able to do this as well.

bad news

i took him back to the vet as he stil wasnt eating. They said that they didnt know what else they could do, but because he was so lively and bright they didnt want to put him down like they had suggested before, so they put a tube down him and fed him liquid food. I got home put him back into the cage and a couple hours later went to check on him, i found him laying there with foam coming out of his mouth dead.

I feel so upset about it, i feel like i failed but i was given him and he had this problem and i took him to the vets, i think i did everything i could for him, i dont know what else i could have done, i mean the vet was meant to be a reptile vet and i tried diifferent foods like waxworms, and i also tried that recipie on here for leos who have eating problems.

Oh my, I am so sorry for your loss. You did do everything that you could do, so don't beat yourself up for it. You handled the situation very well with everything that you did. I am so sorry that this happened this way. Did you call the vet and ask them why your leo was foaming at the mouth and dead? I would be pretty upset with the vet if they stuck a tube down my leo's throat and then I found it that way, although maybe it was out of their control as well.
