I was feeding the geckos some supers tonight when I got a wild hair to try out my macro lens. These things are scary...:main_yes:

That's why I've pretty much sworn off feeding superworms to my animals - these things really are pretty beastly. I actually lost a couple mantids to these guys once.

They look pretty fearsome (my husband HATES them), but my leos LOVE them. I've never had a problem feeding supers to my kids. They typically crunch the head first anyway so that the super doesn't even have a chance to bite them.

I just bought some superworms and tried feeding them to my leos last night. The leos were VERY interested and tried to grab one, but kept having issues. The superworm was just completely wild and wriggly and they couldn't seem to keep a good grasp on it. They eventually gave up trying and I removed the superworms.

I've read that some people cut the heads off.. If I do this, will it still wriggle/move around enough to capture the leos interest? Also, how should I go about doing it? I'll admit it grosses me out horribly but I'll deal with it. :main_rolleyes:

Thanks for the advice! They managed to devour my entire container of butterworms the other night so I picked up the superworms. I'll try them again this evening. :main_thumbsup:
