So ordered 100 Phoenix worms and tried to feed a couple to Sam....he reluctantly ate one after tasting and mouthing it for a few mins. Dropped another one in front of him and as he looked at it.....he slowly closed his eyes and nodded off :(

It's morning here and usually feed him at night - he's nice and active then and eats like a piggy. I'm hoping lack of interest is because it's morning.

Anyone find there Leos will only eat at certain times? He wasn't even interested in a meal worm which he normally loves and is just sleeping in his cool hide.

Generally leos are known to be nocturnal so they're more active and likely to eat at night. I feed my leo around 6 or 7 after the sun has gone down and I dimmed my lights. She really won't bother eating during the day since she sleeps through most of it.

So the verdict is still out on Phoenix worms. He has eaten a couple but they must taste like poop because if he just goes to grab them to reposition them for the deadly strike he usually mouths them and spits them out. If he's going in like he means it he gets it down.

He's eating mealworms like a madman so it's not his appetite.

Anyway to make Phoenix worms taste better? I can see lots of people have had problems with their Leos accepting them. They are quite a bit nastier than the mealworms so I can't say I blame Sam.
