My boyfriend and I just got a baby leopard gecko a couple of days ago. We already have a bearded dragon, and I must say they're so different in taking care of them food wise! We were told they like crickets so we got 24 of them. The first night we put in about 7 accidentally, but in the morning we found he ate 4 or 5 of them. We left the last two in there and added 2 more last night and he didnt eat any of them when we checked this morning. They're still in there, im not sure if it is really that bad to leave them in there, and how much should he be eating? is only a few crickets okay for him?. Also he hasn't pooped, is that normal? We also have just a fluorescent on him during the day, and a night time bulb on him at night but he feels so cold when we hold him, should we get him like a heating pad to warm the floor, or is his cold body normal? I would appreciate answers I feel so clueless like i'm harming him!

Food: It's not unusual for a new gecko to not eat for a while in new place, even if it ate at the beginning. If it's an adult, it doesn't need to be fed every day and may not eat every day. Many adults slow down on eating a lot in the winter (just like many beardies). It's not unusual for them not to poop for a few days or a week or more.
Most care sheets say to take the crickets out after 15 minutes. I usually leave a few in, and unless you see the crickets bothering the gecko, I don't see why not.

Light and heat: Leopard geckos, unlike bearded dragons, are nocturnal and don't really need lights. Although some people do use overhead lights for heating, most people use under tank heaters with a thermostat to maintain a floor (not air) temperature in the low 90's.

It would be a good idea for you to google "leopard gecko care" and read a few care sheets so you have everything right.

Welcome to GF.
