Need some advice recently acquired 3 fat tails geckos 1 male 2 females, problem is due to lack of care one females tall has thinned right out. Question is this I am know wax worms are too fatty but figure for a bit I should add a couple along with her crickets to help fatten her up properly. Am I on the right track? Would appreiciate the advice folks.

The best thing you can do to fatte up a gecko is provide as many kinds of feeders as you can. So i additions to their crickets, add a bowl of mealworms or superworms and yes, you can add some waxworms too. Butterwrms are great for putting on weight and silkworms are good too. You could also try roaches. As long as it's not a parasite issue, the gecko should gain weight rather quickly.

Thanks miamileo

Was debating whether I should add some supers in there as well as silkworms as well, local store has the silkworms so all set there.
Thanks again

P.S. Just noticed other female has eggs in belly likely non fertile but will incubate soon as laid.

I'm very hesitant on supers, I fed them to my leos for awhile, and am going back to mealies. I think a super bit my normal female because she flips out when i put a dish of them in. And they smell haha

Before you go out and get lots of worms, remember that many fat tails don't eat worms. I have had more issues with my adult and hatchling fat tails going on hunger strikes and thinning out pretty quickly than with my leopard geckos. If you have one that isn't doing that well I hope she's separated from the others. With my fat tails, I can often get them started up eating again by holding them and pushing crickets (and mealworms sometimes because they're not as squishy as crickets) into their mouths. Except in the case of a fat tail with a liver problem (that I hand fed for 10 months until she died), they have pretty much gotten the idea of eating again after a few sessions of "assisted feeding". Good luck.

no not pushing the worms just adding one wax worm for a few days with the crickets to see if she will take it won t be a permanent deal just enough to fatten her up to a good fat tail weight. Yes is separated from the others in her own tank less stress and she has been out and about tank a lot more then when she was with the other two. Thanks for your concern and advice acpart.
