I'm at a loss what to do. My gecko has been getting skinnier and skinnier and is now refusing food. I think he may have MBD. What can I do? Is he to far gone?

I've had him maybe 7 months, ever since winter hit he's gone downhill. Used to eat plenty of crickets every other day. Have him in a 10 gallon tank with repticarpet, no loose substrate. Had to put a 150 watt night black bulb on 24/7 (house is cold) and have a heating pad under half the tank as well to keep it 80+ degrees.

!!!! that poor baby is one if the skinniest geckos I've seen, and I can almost definitely say MBD is present. its ONLY really good chance at survival now is to get it to a vet as soon as humanly possible. it would help us all out a lot if you could fill this out btw ---->http://geckoforums.net/f130-health-medications/70912.htm I may be able to help a little, as I have rehabilitated anorexic geckos, as well as MBD geckos, but never both.... filling out that sheet will help....

all I can really advise is 1: get to a vet!, and 2: try this--->http://geckoforums.net/f130-health-medications/54742.htm please do whatever you can to save this baby, as its breaking my heart to see it like this. I don't know enough to blame anyone or anything for this geckos condition, but just try and help it as best you can because there is still a (slim) chance that it will survive. I have seen geckos come back from worse, so he might also if you help. I am always open for questions and will do my best to answer any that you have, along with others on this forum. I wish you luck, and my thoughts are with you.

I'm sorry but that link isn't working on my computer... basically its the cans of wet dog food that you find on shelves at most vets offices. it is super nutritious, and is great for this slurry. this slurry has saved the lives of most of my rescues, bringing one of my boys from 20 grams at three years old, to 45 gram and gaining three months later! if you can tell me the exact brand that that link leads to, I could confirm it or not. I hope this helps!

This gecko is incredibly emaciated. It may be too late to bring back but a vet should be the only one to make that call.
At the very least it can be euthanized humanely.
If you choose to get another gecko, you should disinfect his entire enclosure incase of disease and parasites, and go to a vet at the first sign your pet is sick.
Good luck.

Here is a picture of it.

Im im gonna make the slurry first thing after work tomorrow and see if I can get him to take it. The soonest I can get to a vet is gonna be beginning of next week. So if he doesn't take to this I'll let the vet decide what to do cause I've tried all I can and just to look at him is killing me, I know he's suffering and I hate it. :/

I really appreciate all the help. If he don't make it then I can't bring my self to get another one.

OH no... :( That poor, poor baby! I think you probably should have been hand feeding him slurry or reptiboost quite a while ago. I sure hope he can bounce back. Mine have been going down hill and got super skinny, but nothing close to that and they are bouncing back now because of the slurry.

Please keep us updated. That photo breaks my heart. He must be suffering so much.
