I have a very important question which has been bugging me for a little. I saw a video on youtube about how to heat a leopard geckos terrarium. The guy says to keep the infrared on 24/7 and the heat lamp on for 10 hours a day. he also says to keep an undertank heat mat on the side of the infrared(the cool side) 24/7 as well. Im confused because I have heard many people say that keeping the infrared on is sufficient. Someone please help me because I just got a baby leopard gecko and dont want him to get hurt in any way. Thanks!!

Leopard geckos do not need supplemental light.

The Under tank Heater should be on the hot side and should be around 90-95F.
A red light bulb can be used on the hot side if the UTH cannot maintain temps (like in winter). But the most important thing is that they have a UTH on the hot side to aid digestion.
Unless you live in a place that is very cold all year round you should not need to heat the cool side.
In my house ambient temps on the cool side are between 70 and 80F. If the house drops much lower than that my UTH cannot keep up the temps on the hot side, so I turn the lamp on over the hot side. The addition of the lamp also brings up ambient temps on the cool side.

I would only use an undertank heater. Lighting is only necessary if you cant get enough heat from the undertank heater.

EDIT: 1 min to late lol
