I am a new owner I have had my gecko for a week now and I I have a heat mat for her under a hide for the warm hide I also have a moist hide and cool hide and I know people say you don't need any heating other than the mat but I have also heard that it is okay to use heat lamps, so many mixed opinions online with these things so I just need help

My situation is I keep my gecko in my room and I keep my room around 60 degrees year round because Im very hot natured and keep it that way so I can sleep and I have been using a heat lamp for my gecko for the past week air temp staying about 80-85 F during the day and around 75 F at night just wondering if it is okay to continue using this lamp or if I should take it off to avoid potentially causing harm to her any help is greatly appreciated.

From what I know, what they need is actually belly heat. So an under tank heating pad is preferred. Plus, leopard gecko is nocturnal, so the heat lamp might cause unnecessary stress for the gecko if it's too bright.

I would recommend using a low wattage ceramic heating element. Your leopard gecko should have a cool side with temps no higher than 75 degrees with the extra heat.
