Ok guys I am totally lost when it comes to bold stripes, they are beautiful but I don't understand the genes. I've looked on the genetics calculator but I don't see it. Is it just a pattern mutation? If so can you just get a normal bold stripe or is it a morph in it's own because I can't find it on the calculator.

I saw some beautiful Mack snow bold stripes and that's got me wanting to do this. They are a bit out of my price range so I figured it would be fun to make my own. I'm a little unsure of how to go about getting them tho.

I want to buy a ss enigma female so where and how do i do it from there? I don't know if bold stripe x ss enigma will make snow enigma bold stripes the first breeding or not.

I'm sure you'd have to line breed probably the best stripes you have together to get better offspring, lol I just need some help.
Also what are good breeders to get bold stripes from and maybe a link to some good bold stripe genetic info would be awesome.

no, you do not have to line breed. the stripe gene is simple recessive. the color and boldness are polygentic though.

perhaps not all lines of bold stripe are simple recessive but the r2 line and HISS line are for sure. i have made het stripes and proven out the genetics

i do not put much stock in the information leopard gecko wiki has available and it is quite outdated

also the info on R2 stripe and HISS stripes has been proven now for at least five years now.

Thanks robin I was hoping you would chime in and help me. How would I actually do the morph calculator tho when I'm using a bold stripe x whatever?

Do I just leave the morph as normal and put stripe in for the pattern??

Hey Robin, thank you for the information about the stripes being genetic. I was unaware of that.

Feel free to add the information to the Wiki, it allows for people to update information as it updates :)
