Hello,
Im a new leopard gecko owner and I think he is cold. Im in Minnesota and live in a basement. My room temp is only around 60 degrees during the day. His tank only reads about 80 on the hot side during the day and 70 at night.
The gecko doesnt go to the cold side. He sits in his hide when the basking light is on and as soon as its off he goes and lays on the ground over the under tank heater.
I have a uv light, a 75 watt basking light, and a undertank heater. I may get a larger under tank heater to get more heat. I have coverd most of the screen top but 80 is has high as the temp gets. It is warmer than the pet store enclosure he was in though. I just want him to be happy.
Thanks for any help.

I'm assuming you mean the hot side temperature is 80 in the air, rather than on the floor and that you want to raise your ambient temps rather than your floor temps. If it's the floor temps, that's another response. My geckos seem to do fine in the northeast where the daytime thermostat for the house is set around 60. If you do want to raise your ambient temp in the tank, you could either get a ceramic heat emitter or a red bulb that emits more heat than light.
