Recently I purchased a 12" x 12" exo terra terrarium for my son. After talking with a local pet store they recommended a leopard gecko to put in it.
Now to my problem, after researching a bit I realize that this size tank is too small. I believe it will be hard to get a temperature gradient and it is just too small.
I have a few extra tanks laying around which I could use for the leopard gecko:
1) a 10 gallon tank (20" x 10")
2) 29 gallon tank (30" x 12") and
3) 33 gallon (48" x 12")
I am leaning towards my 33 gallon as it is 4ft long. It is currently filled with water, but I have not added any fish yet. So it would be relatively easy to convert for the gecko.
I was thinking to have an undertank heater on each side and leave the middle two feet as the cool section, will this work. Also, would it be alright to have half of the tank tile and the other half be coconut husks.
