New adopted Gecko parent

Hello everyone,

My name is Mike. After 5 months of my 8yr old doing chores and extra things around the house to get a Leopard Gecko and its habitat, She finally was able to get it yesterday. She sneaked "Spot" out last night and was kissing him/her on the mouth when it bit her upper lip drawing blood from 3 puncture wounds. Now she is afraid of it and will not have anything to do with it and wanted it out of her room.

So for the time being, possibly for the rest of its life, I guess I might just be the adopted parent of a Leopard Gecko. After the incident with daughter, Spot has been acting strange. But, I realize it is a new surrounding for him, new home, new faces etc. but he just seems to be on high alert now.

So that is why I am here. I am going to read all I can and learn all I can to make this little guy/girl as happy and calm as possible. And with most forums, I will try to find the answer myself with use of the search function BEFORE I ask a question. :main_thumbsup:

Anyways, here is to hopefully many years of happy Gecko ownership! :banana:

My 8 year old daughter was scared at first as well but was the only one brave enough to hold a 3 foot albino python at a birthday party last month. Like you said, he's a little scared right now too. Given time, both of them will come around.
