albino means no black pigment. so all the ones that called amel are accually albino, theyre just T+. the ones from TUG are claimed on the page as T-. and man are all of them sick

That pic honestly doesnt show anything, there is obviously a glare on the eyes in that pic, if you look at the very top of the eyes where the glare isnt, they look black or at least very very dark to me. Hopefully since Brett works at TUG he can get us nice clear shots of the eyes

They look exactly the same to me but I also have a question is this is different strain of Patty then JMG's? Brett are they related to JMG's stock at all or??? Or are they from WC Group?

The picture of the two Albino Fat Tails.. Just shows CrestedGecko.com's Line Bred Tangerine influences on the standard Albino Fat Tail. I have an Albino Fat Tail Male that I received 3 years ago as a huge proven breeder with one hemipene. I got him as a pet. I know that he is at least 4 years old but I think he is a lot older that doesn't look like anything that anyone is hatching out nowadays. Anyways, Here is a picture [its an old picture].

In his day he was an EXTREMLEY Tangerine Albino Fat Tail. In comparison to the Animals that are hatching out nowadays he is very dull. The original Albino Fat Tails even in comparison to him were much more dull.

The amels or "albinos" lose those their bright colors after being bred and as they age. So you can't go off of their scale coloration. Up to this point every one I have talked says there is no "true" albino fat tail. Until we get some better pics of the TUGs eyes then there is still no albino AFT. I tried arguing at one point that the amels may have deep dark red eyes like the RW leos. My amel even closes his eyes in regular light settings where my albino leos will keep theirs open.

I still dont understand how TUGs "Albinos" are T-, I dont see what is different from them than the T+ Amels that everyone else is working with. No one seems quick to explain how theses are T- and not T+ anyways, makes me question if it was simply just a lack of Knowledge or a Typo on the site....

heres the deal

albino technically means lack of pigment.

amelanistic means no melanin.

reptiles have other pigments in addition to melanin. conventionally in the hobby amel and albino are used interchangbly.

the albinos on that site are still "just" amels.

also, when geckos breed they start losing their non-melanin pigment. in normal phase geckos this would mean they get darker. but with amels it just means they look washed out.

I'm fairly convinced there are true albino fat-tails. The albinos from the Leshock line definitely don't have black eyes. They have something I'd call dark ruby red. And opposed to nominal, they seem to show strong light sensitivity, ie. very difficult to take a good picture in slightly stronger light. I will try to post pics of my female's eyes, slightly lightened in photoshop, i think they should show red.

hmm, T+ bred to T- minus should produce normal double hets correct? Sounds like this needs test bred to see if there actually is a difference or not ;-)

well, I didn't get the effect I was hoping for, nevertheless, the eyes are not black. If you take the "eyedropper" and roll over the eyes, in most spots, there is at least 25 to 50% more red than there is blue or green.

Are those photos doctored in any way? Lightened?

Like I said earlier my Amel will shut his eye in normal room light, where as my albino leos will keep their eyes open. The RW leos have dark ruby eyes, this was part of my argument as well as light sensitivity. In any case Amels sell well whether or not they are actually albinos, plus I like they way the look personally. That's why it doesn't really bother me to argue.
