Hi, I'm new on this site as of yesterday, i decided to start breeding geckos and ive got a male and 2 females, all in the same tank, both females are clearly gravid and i got the hovabator (no fan) and have it set so it doesnt go over 86'and below 84', for the incubation medium i'm going to use perlite, and is it okay if i use styrophome cups or should i use regular deli cups? Anyways for my gecko tank i have 2 undertank heaters a eco reptile carpet thing a water bowl, a humid hide, and a laying box with sphagnum moss/peat moss, and above my tank i have 2 ceramic heat emiters because in my area its in the negatives, anyways the tank is a 20 long which should be enough room for my three adults. The only things i have questions about are more experiance related, like how fragile are the eggs? What if i break them while looking for them in the lay box? Again i chose to start breeding geckos because i think theyre awesome and any feedback would be awesome!

The eggs aren't super fragile. They're more rubbery rather than brittle like chicken eggs. As long as you're careful when going through the laybox you shouldn't hurt them. I've always used plastic deli cups. You want to make sure the container you're keeping the eggs in is air tight. This will maintain the humidity much better than anything that allows moisture and air to escape. Just open the container once every week or so to let in some fresh air and the eggs will be fine. I've used perlite in a 1:.8 ratio and it makes a great medium. Make sure your tank has a cool side where it is around 70 and a warm side around 90 and the gecko will be fine. You may find the male needs to be separated after the breeding season if the females don't appreciate his advances anymore. Good luck!

Thanks for the info, i used that ratio for the perite so my incubators completely set up now, as for my gecko tank thats the temp gradient i have (acording to my temp gun), and ill keep that in mind, i have plenty of tanks around my house to put him in

It sounds as if you have things generally well set up. 20 gallons is a bit snug for 3 adult leos. I solve this problem by providing a 12"x12" second level: four 6" PVC "feet" with flanges at the bottom and two 12"x12" tiles with a mini UTH sandwiched between them.

They seem to fit pretty comfertable to me, but since im not a gecko i cant tell, I'll probably upgrade my tank soon anyways, what size would you recommend? Like 40 gallon or?
