Very interesting combinations, but what makes an Albino Black Pearl any different from a Normal Albino? Sorry for sounding naive but I honestly thought the definition of a Black Pearl was a Melanistic Animal. And those animals don't look any darker from any Pure Albinos and some of those could even pass for Hybinos in a few months.

I'm thinking the answer to that Nigel lies in the genetics, and not something that can be seen by the eye. They carry the Black Pearl gene possibly? I'd be very interested in some more information :)

I'd like more information as well... Anything concerning melanistic leos really perks my interest. ;)

They don't appear much different though, but I guess the genes do set them apart. No offense of course, I still think they are lovely animals.

Ditto to this. I love the darker coloring for leopard geckos and look forward to it being more accessible.

Though to me they look more brown. I don't know if it's just me that is seeing that, or if my eyes are playing tricks on me. >.< Well, if they are more brown than anything else I have names picked out already. ^^

The first set of images they have up on the thread are obviously darker. So it's not your eyes or monitor. :p The second set...I'm not so sure. They look like regular albinos but as someone mentioned, they more than likely carry the gene for a Black Pearl or atleast a darker skinned leo. Also, they might get a bit darker as they get older as well.

Go to the leopard gecko wiki and look up Black Pearl or Black Velvet and you'll see some that are practically black!

Oh I have! Lol, that site makes me want a couple of each morph. I fell in love with them because usually geckos are so vibrant. So they are beautiful in an different way, know what I mean?

Oh yeah, I know! :) I just really like the contrast of the darker colors. And I get the same way when I browse the images on there too. XD

The sad part is seeing them and not being able to get them right away. :( Would be great if all places shipped here. I just have to hope I find a breeder in Canada. If I am lucky enough to get one sometime and they are more brown, names will be Coco for female, and Hersey for a male. XD And if it's actually Black, then it will be Coal for a male... and I have no idea on the female... maybe Satine

Just for you, if I ever get my dark leo project started up again I'll drive to give you some.

I don't want to high jacking the thread, but I'm a choddy updater... I just have to shape up!

I don't know if you can all them BP combos... we (Conrad and I) don't even know if BP or BV is a morph yet. We have our thoughts but we haven't figur out if they are recessiv, dominate, co-dom or just line bred yet.
We don't have enougt grown up offsprings to show.

I want more black adults to show to be sure there is anything at all to combinate, but... I did an enigma+BV pairing this year (I got one enigma and 4 enigma siblings). They look similar to Conrads hypos. Hatched out whit a lot of dark, washed out to dirty hypos and today they are like normal hypos. I have sold them but I kept the enigma and one enigma sibling even if i think we have to line breed them to make them darker. out crossing with hypos is interesting, but not for the BV-project.

I like the "normal" BV-offsprings better, even if they are grey some times :)

2009 I will do some outcrossings but it's more to find interesting patterns. Maybe Bold stripes?

Have you seen their Super Black Pearls? There is no mistaking them for brown. The hets do look very different, and brown like some of you have noted. I wish I could get my hands on a piece of that project. Any word on how to get involved or when some may be made available?

Nothing special this BP combos. Only pure BPs are amazing.
I don't understand cross hypomelanistic with melanistic morph. It's illogical for me.

I’ve been looking at their webpage for sometime now as well.
http://www.livingartgeckos.com/breeders1.html#black_pearl

In a previous post, they said they where almost sure it was a recessive trait, but on the website it almost looks as they now think they’re co-dominate, with saying “Black Pearl, Super Black Pearl, and Black Pearl Sibling”. Also the Black Pearl Sunglow, they say “we can't wait for super form!!!”

5 females where put up for sale on 10/24/08, with prices ranging from $2,700 - $3,400. I decided not to get mine then, as I would rather have a male. You will need to be put on the waiting list for further information on when they’re avaible.

My boyfriend wants a darker one like the black pearls. Do you ship into Canada by any chance?

They’re in Poland, and they will ship to the U.S. (where I live), so I’d assume they’d also be willing to ship to Canada for you!

I agree, the Sunglow Black Pearls do not really look any different than a Mack Tremper, for me.
