I have a new breeder this season...she hasn't used her moist hide even ONCE. It's on the cool side, moderately moistened, with sphagnum moss and a hole cut on the side. She also hasn't eaten on her own since i've gotten her (beginning of Feb.) I'm sure I will be asked for a rundown of my setup so here goes:
Size: 20 gallon tank
Occupants: One male, ~64g and one female ~72g (He likes 'em big
)
Substrate: ReptiCarpet
Furnature: Rock castle object on the hot side, moist hide (with sphagnum
moss) on the cool side
Temps: 90 degrees on the hot side, 72 degrees on the cool
Calcium: Always available, Rep-Cal w/D3
Food: Superworms, Giant Mealworms, (always available) Mealworms
(offered); my insects are gutloaded with Flukers cricket feed & orange
cubes for 48 hours before feeding.
Water: Available always
I'm concerned that when it comes time for her to lay eggs, she'll do it while i'm sleeping (Murphy's Law) and not know to use her moist hide, and i'm worried the eggs will suffer consequences. Maybe i'm just too paranoid, and that her instincts will kick in when the time is right, but some input (good and bad) would be appreciated. Thanks!
