After over 25 hours of research (thanks in BIG part to bluetongueskinks.net), I took my blue tongue skink home today. I'm so excited! He's an Irian Jaya, 3 years old, I named him Mulcahy (I'm a big MASH fan ). I put him in the tank and he took to exploring a little bit, then settled into his hide (a cheese nip box, temporary, of course. It was a natural looking log type thing, but he immediatly destroyed that, so I'm letting my dad get it more secure before I put it in again).
He was happy (ish. He's kind of a grumpy soul, who wouldn't be after such an ordeal, but I hope with handling that will be changed) in his cheese nip box when I covered the tank for the night (my sister stays up till all hours of the night, and the light is on during that period too, since I sleep in the living room. As such, I've always covered my reptile's tanks at night so I was sure at least they would have a natural day/night cycle).
Pictures will be forthcoming after I let Mulcahy settle in for a few days. He's got really pretty coloring, and I am looking forward to spending the next 15+ years of my life with him )!
