Mike took it upon himself to go out and buy this for me, I have always wanted a boxer really bad. I have been down in the dumps lately (hormones heh) to so he thought it would cheer me and it did! We named him Max he is 7weeks old.

Cute little guy you got there, I like boxers. Thought about getting one but I love Danes and that is what we chose. Is he gonna stay natural or are you gonna crop?

We were talking about that last night, I was debating on if I thought it was cruel or not and how much pain it causes something we are going to look into. I honestly do think they look better with shorter ears.

I have cropped all the Danes that we have had, there is much to say by many if it is cruel and painful and have heard many of the debates from both sides. I have always liked the regal look of the cropped ear but I believe it is a personal preference, though I have spoken to my wife that if we do get another one I think I would like to leave the ears natural. I'm sure that there may be some pain involved but irritation for sure in the begining, then they are ok. Whatever your decision is it will not affect his loyalty, companionship, character, or devoted love for you and HIS family.

Love him and enjoy him, they are like kids, they grow up sooooo fast.

He's cute

Isn't it too late to crop? I thought they cropped soon after birth

Good luck with a puppy and a newborn. We did it and it wasn't fun lol

Well I think boxers do look better with the ears that stand up, it's something we will debate I'm sure, we have all the info on the vet gave us so I guess it's just wait and see what we decide to do. I will keep you posted on it.

The vet said the ears can be cropped at 12 weeks old, he is 7 weeks old.

He won't be a puppy by the time the baby comes anyways so I'm not to worried ;)

Ahhh gotcha. I like the cropped ears too. When I was 11 I had a Pit that had cropped ears

How far along are you?

Great looking Boxer pup, we have a 5 year old Boxer here and we have had him since a puppy as well and we didn't crop, because I work in a business that has alot of contact with Vets and Dog Groomers and I have always here how it isn't a comfortable thing for the dog no matter what they do, so we chose not too. They do look good with the ears sticking up though. Also, be careful what you leave laying around they LOOOOOOOVE to chew up stuff, our Boxer ate half of a wooden (meter) stick when he was a puppy, not including the trim in the house and everything else. I was told to buy the hottest hot sauce you can find and rub that on the the trim where he chewed but that just made him chew harder. :main_laugh: But just some words of advice other than that they are great dogs, and be careful right before you have the baby because when he gets a little older he will (no matter how much you train him) just up and punch you with his front paws, hence the name "boxer", so protect that belly. Again congrats, and great looking Boxer.:main_thumbsup:

I was preggo during the summer too; but I wasn't far into the pregnancy so it wasn't too bad for me. On the other hand, that was one of our hotter summers lol

Yeah, he won't be a puppy. He'll be a TEENAGER!! Start training him well now so that when the baby comes you won't go too crazy with both of them.
I was preggo during the summer. But I was due in July. NOT fun mind you. Actually had to stop working because the heat and the work was throwing me into false contractions constantly. That happened on July 4th and I had my little girl(can't believe she's turning 3) 20 days later. You will learn to hate the summer when you're pregnant.
