New Gecko. A few questions

Crickets and mealworms in a dish should be good. I would only put enough crickets to be consumed, and remove the rest. They have a tendency to stress the geckos. Mealworms in dish can stay in 24/7. Just change the worms out periodically.

Crickets in a dish? They don't have to be alive?

We got an exo terra desert terrarium substrate heater. It's ok to use with the liner? Also, I'm surprised there is no dial... It is just the right temp on its own?

Yes, the UTH should be fine with the liner. Most UTH's do not come with a dial (temperature-regulator) for that reason you may want to invest in a thermostat or Rheostat (available at most pet stores), which can be plugged into the UTH so the temperature can be monitored. I use one, and I find it pretty handy, especially during a hot summer or cold winter, where I can turn up or down the heat output of the mat and make sure my geckos are comfortable.

EDIT - Along with a thermostat to regulate the UTH, a great way to monitor the temperature is by using a digital thermometer (not sure if someone mentioned it already, if so, sorry!). They tend to be much more accurate and precise when it comes to reading temperatures. Simply place it on the tank floor where the heat mat is and make sure the temps are good. 88-94 degrees is a good range.

Currently waiting on the UTH, been a few minutes and it's a little warm I think. Hoping I didn't wreck it when it got a little stuck on the wrong place.
