Wow 6 giant mealworms is a huge meal. Good for her. I've never seen Eros eat more than 4 superworms, or at least I wound't let him eat more than 4. I was afraid he'd regurg.
I fed her some of the smaller in the cup. I'll see if she'll eat some tonight and if she doesn't I'll put her on an every other day diet like care sheet suggests. I might try to see if she'll eat a couple of waxworms. She's kept everything down which is good.
eh I'm not sure if taht is a great idea with her just starting to eat and all. Waxies are like gecko crack and she could refuse other feeders if you offer them too early in the game. I'd hoenstly wait until you have a good start on the mealies before offering a waxie imo.
I just thought I might because she's so skinny and I don't know how long it'll take the meal worms to fatten her up. If that's the case then I'll hold off for a little while.
I wouldn't recommend feeding her waxies, she's eating fine right now. She doesn't need so much food. How old did you say she was again?
She would only need waxies if you weren't able to get her to eat. If she's eating, which she is nicely...and if she's thin, she'll be able to gain weight back without the need of waxies.
But I would just stick to normal feeders, be careful though...she may eat too many (some don't know how to stop :main_rolleyes: ) and throw up again. Just make sure you don't load up and give her a TON of them
If she keeps eating good she'll be putting on weight in no time
I'm not sure if I mentioned it yet or not in this thread but when you have a grossly underweight leo you want the weight gain to be slow and steady as there are other complications that can arise from putting on too much weight, ingesting too much protein so fast after the system has been depleated for so long. Please do a little reading on re-feeding syndrom. It could prove very useful in this situation. Like pink said, she's eating, hopefully she keeps the next meal down, I'd just go from there... slow and steady... you're doing a good job, your heart is in the right place but weight gain shouldn't happen over night.
Here is the latest update for my leo for those of you who have been helping me. Thank you for that. Here have been her eating habits this week.
Monday - 6 Giant Mealworms
Tuesday - 6 Giant Mealworms
Wednesday - No eating (wanted to give her a break)
Thursday - 1 Giant Mealworm
Friday - 10 Giant Mealworms
She stopped eating at 10 and now she's laying on her warm spot in her tank. So cute! I freaking love her. She's doing so great and I can already see her tail getting a little bigger thank god. She goes to the bathroom normal and her urate is the normal white with a very little yellow so I know she's staying hydrated. I'll wait until Sunday to feed her again since she ate so much tonight. She's doing awesome. Still haven't named her yet haha
