New Gecko. Lots of questions.

I just picked up a Moluccan Gecko/Poor Mans Leechie. He is roughly 2 years old. I am not new to reptiles but I am new to geckos. That being said I have some basic questions.

1. I have his temp @ 80. Is that optimal?

2. I mist his tank 2-3 time daily. I have got an actual humidity reading as the gauge I ordered is still in the mail.

3. I got him a water/food bowl but I am yet to see him use it for either. He has although fed from my hand (banana gerber). Any ideas or things I'm doing wrong.

4. Are his color shift due to stress, or is that just what they do? He's normally white but he turns brown yellow and red sometimes.

Any info you guys can give me will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Ghyra marginata are pretty easy. Keep ambient temp at 78-82F. Provide a 90F basking spot(use red lighting, they are nocturnal). Twice a day is fine on misting, they do fine at 60-80% humidity.

Give him time, he'll eat. Don't feed baby food, it's not good for them, too much sugar. Give Crested Gecko Diet and crickets/roaches.

These guys are often called "Mood geckos." The color shift is normal.

Pretty much these guys are exactly like tokays care wise just feed more CGD instead of insects.

Got it. Thanks much. Also, they are called Moluccan geckos sometimes too right? I've been told also vorax. Is this accurate?

They are sometimes sold as moluccan geckos, bananna geckos or vorax geckos. The correct name is halmahera giant gecko. Vorax is misleading; ghyra vorax is virtually non existent in us collections, ghyra marginata is common. I assure you yours is marginata, the eyes are green, vorax has amber eyes.

Awesome. Thanks for the info. Hopefully I will be able to find a female soon. Would it be better to house them separately or will they be okay together?
