New gecko mom and have a few questions..

Hello,
I have two new juvi's or babies. Not sure how old they are (put pics in the introduce yourself section). They are 10 and 12 grams. I just got them a couple days ago and they are not eating like my other gecko.
They have eaten maybe 1 or 2 crix each but that is it in two days. They do not show any interest in the worms and I try to leave them in there dish at all times but the little buggers crawl everywhere.
How much does a juvi gecko eat? My older girl eats about 10 crickets and 11 mealies a night. I give her a couple wax worms but now that she has put on weight so nicely, she no longer gets wax worms.
How do I temp these guys to eat?
I hold them in front of them and they turn away. They seem to explore a lot more than my big girl and go from hide box to hide box.
What should I be doing for my new arrivals?

THanks
PS they were kept on sand at the pet store.:main_thumbsdown:

Give them up to a week to get comfortable. Put some grain or a bit of carrot in the bowl with the mealies and they'll be more inclined to stay. It will get better.

I agree, just give them some time to get used to being in new homes. Juvi's wont eat as much as an adult obviously, but id just make sure they always have mealworms available.

Thanks.
I was told to get a glass ashtray and that will keep them from escaping. I am going to get some this weekend and try it.:D
That is good to know it takes about a week for them to adjust. I will let them be and just keep fresh water and mealies in there cage.
Should I give crickets? What time of day is best? Do I take out the uneaten crix in the morning or when?
Sorry for more questions.

First keep the new geckos quarantined from the one that is already established for 60-90 days. It can take longer then a week for the new guys to get comfortable, 1-2 weeks is normal. Yes you can feed crix just as long as they are not too big for the young geckos. You should feed them in the evening, this is when they would normally hunt in the wild (leo's are nocturnal). And yes do take out the uneatend crix. Only leave the crix in the cage for 30 minutes to an hour. Anything longer and the crix will annoy the geckos.

P.S. Are you gut loading the crix and meal worms?

Juvie's and babies should eat more then adults since they would still be growing. Adults may only eat 2-3 large meals during a week where as a growing leo will eat every day of the week. Atleast this is what I've experienced in the 2 years that I've been breeding.

When I first brought home mine, they didnt eat a good meal for a few days only one mealie each. Eventually they got to the point where they know what time of day I feed them and when they hear the lid pop off the mealie jar they come out of their hides and stare me down waiting. Its really neat. At first I thought I need to seperate them while they feed but they watch each other eat and kind of take turns. If a mealie walks towards one gecko the other just watchs it and then looks at me like "Next!!"

Thanks for the help.
These two were together at the pet store so that is why I am keeping them together.
My adult female is in her own cage and I might combine them into a really big cage when they are all grown.
They seem a little antsy compared to my adult. The albino is always going from house to house taking cat naps in each.
I am not sure if the humid hide should be on the hot or cold end?
I know they thermo regulate but the albino seems to play musical houses all the time. The cool side is at 80 and the hot side is at 92.3. That is taken with a probe thermometer.
I will keep mealies in there and not crix for now. I hate fishing those little buggers out.

While this may be cute now, this may be an issue as they get older. So just remember to keep an eye out for any kind of bullying.

Humid hide goes on the warm side. It's very helpful for a shedding leo.

It wasn't meant towards you. I was quoting Freemankind, he made a comment about keeping two leos together.
