Just got a 3 days ago and it hasn't really left its hiding spot or ate. It never comes out day or night and just hids on the hiding spot on the cool side of the tank. The humidity in the tank is kinda high, 50% give or taken depending on the day. Is this normal til he gets used to it or is there anything I can do to liven him up and make him eat?

It can take them a week or two to get used to everything and might not eat in that time. I would just keep it as calm as possible and offer food but dont be too worried if they dont eat right away. Good luck with your new gecko :)

It is normal. They are scared. Please give details on your set up, temp readings on cool and hot side, and what hides you have in setup. I have a new girl that is staying in her hide, but she gets out at night because all the feeders are gone in AM. And she always leaves me a poop in the corner of her tub. :)

It's a 20 gallon long. Paper towels on the bottom and hiding spot on hot side and cool side. Water dish is a bottle cap and feeding dish is a bigger cap. It's about 70-75 on cool side and 85-90 on the hot side. Humidity is always high, live in Jersey and have no air conditioner... I don't have one of those humid hides in the tank as a result..

So I should have nothing to worry about?

What are you using as a heat source? I would try to get the hot side up a little more. I would still have a humid hide. They need a certain place they can go which will help with shedding and being hydrated. Otherwise your doing good.

Under the tank heater and a light on top which probably doesn't provide heat but helps for viewing.

White in the day and red in the night... should I just use red all the time? I also shut the light off when I goto sleep... don't want the house burning down..

Do you have a red or black light on top? That's what you need. If you have daylight on, she won't come out.
