I got a new pair of firewaters for Christmas. I picked them up last Sunday, I know they take a few days to settle in but does a week seem too long. I picked them up personally from the breeder who kept them in racks and had an ambient temp at maybe 76-80 degrees. I keep them in exo-terra tanks and my ambient temp is def. less than 76 b/c I live in the basement. Should I be worried, or could they just be setting into their new homes still or b/c the air temp is a little colder? They don't seem to have lost much weight, their tails also arent too skinny.

You should have their temps at 90 on the hot side, and about room temp on the cool side.

If they were eating fine at their old place they should be eating after a little bit of settling in. My guys took a couple weeks to eat, worried me sick :( Not saying you should be ok waiting that long...but now they are great.

I had one take 3 weeks to eat but if they are too cold they will not eat either as they need good belly heat to digest their food I would get a digital thermometer with a probe so you can properly determine the floor temps. Also though they need belly heat (why we use UTH) you can get a red heat bulb or ceramic heat emitter bulb for the top of the tank. I had to use one because my house had poor heating for the winter and I used it during the day turned it off at night. I did however have a bad time (my home flooded in May) and where I was staying had no heat the over head heat light kept mine a live and active. Maybe this would help you also. Good luck!

P.S. Try not to handle them til they settle in and start eating. It may stress them out more.

The tank temps are right, I have 3 others that are fine. All tanks are at about 93 on the warm end.
