Alright, well you are warned...
WARNING! LONG POST IS LONG

This is my new (I assume) Murphy Patternless hatchling... I went a little overboard with the pictures hehe

Got him from the local pet store, though they didn't know what the breeder temp. sexed it for. Nor did they assume it would be helpful to ask about the age... Oh well, what can you do?

I named him/her Pidge, just 'cause I like that name :D

He (I just refer to anything I don't know the gender of as a he) lives in a 20 gallon long by himself, with a heating pad on 1/3 of the tank that keeps the floor temps about 91 degrees. Cool side varies with my room temperature but it's usually around mid 70's. I use shelf liner as a substrate, because with it I can simply wipe up the feces instead of changing the paper towels every day or two, and only have to change the shelf liner maybe once a week. I will post pics of the rest of his setup later in the post after I show off my baby :) I just adore him! As Suncharmers has said, mommies can brag :) Not sure if he's bragging worthy, but he is to me!

(OK, last comment before the pictures lol!) He's absolutely the sweetest leopard gecko I've ever had, especially for a baby! He's a teensy bit skittish as all babies usually are, but he doesn't hiss or nip at me or anything! It may just be because he's still settling in (brought him home yesterday), but when it's required I handle him (like when I transferred him to his tank) he was a doll.

Anyways, PICTURES :D
(sorry for poor quality, best camera I have is an iPhone XP)

Now his setup! Let me explain the hides before you ask. They are made of tile (I had some on hand, and got the idea from someone online, so I figured if I did it right, why not?), which I glued together with gorilla glue (that was a disaster... :p) then reinforced with scotch tape just in case; scotch tape just because it's see-through lol, and I wasn't extremely worried it would collapse. But yes, that's what that reflective stuff is...
Now, the warm hide (yes that piece by the opening is broken... I dropped it lol, but I made use of it! I put it upside down so he couldn't hurt himself. Will probably sand it down later though, just in case):

The top lifts up for easy access! (I have tested the strength with a rock about the size of my hand, and left it on top for an hour. It held up to it)

Moist hide. Is it ok if it's not on the warm side? It dries out extremely quickly when I had it over the heat mat. I plan on getting moss eventually though as I hear it holds moisture well.

Digital Thermometer. The probe broke the other day and I haven't been able to get to Wal-Mart, so I lay it flat down on the warm side to check the temps there, as the sensor for the "indoor" temperature is on the back. It's slightly more humid than necessary I think, but that's because it's been raining all day.

The side is open on the inside of the tank, like a window I can view in with. But I covered the outside of the tank with a piece of tile to block out the light, because the window is facing MY window ;)

And that's all I've got :)

On a side note, thought I'd post a couple pics of my start-up mealworm colony. I bought a 100 ct. mealworm cup while I was buying Pidge, not to feed, but just to get my colony started. I'm pretty sure they give a good sized over count though because I found more than 100 in there (ya, I counted them XD). While there was a good deal more than I expected, I found a lot of them were pretty slow and just half-dead, even after a day in their breeding tubs. But anyways, and this is good for me I guess since I didn't plan on feeding them just yet, but bad for future mealworm buyers from the store I went to that were actually WANTING to feed them, but I found this big and fortunate surprise when I looked through the cup... First, here's a pic of the worm bin:

Now, here's a pic of my wonderful surprise :)

I counted about 70 pupa :D A BIG jump start to my colony. I was very happy lol.

OK, sorry for my EXTREMELY long post... I'm sorry but I tend to talk a lot... :p
And please let me know if this forum has some sort of data capacity, so to speak. I've been on other reptile forums where you're not aloud to post more than a certain amount of pictures, or not allowed to post such long posts as this one. But I didn't see anything in the TOS about it, so I'm unsure.

Hello Kaitlin,

Your pic didn't post :p

Chrissy

Now we're all really curious...

Ya I know haha sorry about that... I have a BUNCH of pics because I was all excited over getting a hatchling :D I was just making sure it's okay to post a lot of pics and a LONG post ahead of time so I don't get in trouble if it's not allowed ^_^ Like I said it doesn't say anything in the TOS, but I'm unsure. I think I'll go ahead and post it anyways.

You got a beautiful cage! Was the tile cave your idea? Looks very nice :main_thumbsup: You got a little Murphy Patternless there. :main_yes: In 2 months or so you should be able to sex it visually. The tail is a bit thin, so hopefully you didn't get a baby with parasites. Just watch if it eats and poops well.

Have fun with your new baby!

Thank you very much :D I'm honored to receive such praise from you haha :)
The caves were sort of my idea; I saw someone online making some things out of tile for household purposes, but configured it to fit my needs. I used gorilla glue so it holds tight, and just reinforced with scotch tape to be safe.
Yes, he's a little thin, I'm going to see if our vet does reptiles and hopefully get a fecal just to be safe, you never know what's hiding in a pet store cage...
Not sure of the age, do you think there's any way to tell just by looking? :p Kind of doubt it since all leos grow differently, but it's worth a shot :D

Just by looking, I'd say he/she is about a month old now. Post an update in a couple of weeks, so we can see how Pidge has grown :main_yes:

looks like an albino patty, maybe even mack snow, but it's pretty difficult to tell the albino strains apart when the patty gene is added in.

Hm, I'm not sure, albinos always have red eyes right? I'm not great with morphs lol so correct me if I'm wrong ^_^ but if so, mine doesn't have red eyes, it has grayish brown with black pupils.
