I just created an account and figured I'd post an intro.
I'm Xavier Springer, I've recently returned to reptile keeping through an interest in my son who is twelve. We currently maintain a small collection which includes 2 pacman frogs, 1 pixie frog, and 3 leos. As far as the leos go we have 1.1 tangerines and 1.0 Super Giant Raptor, all are from Gecko's Etc. I don't believe I will get a collection much larger but would like to consider getting 1-3 female Super Giants, we'll see where the future takes us.
Previously, I own dozens of reptiles throughout my life. My interest in reptile keeping started when I was just 9-10 and I found a hatchling three striped much which I decided to keep. That little mud turtle led to me purchasing another turtle shortly after, collecting turtles and other herps in Central Florida and just growing my interest in my adolescence. As a young adult I joined the military and started my interest in breeding reptiles which started with a small collection of leos and grew into ball pythons. Over the next decade, I found myself having a garage filled with racks and turtle tanks but feeling over whelmed with my addiction to acquire and breed more reptiles. Around that same time, I got an overseas assignment and spent 12 months in South Korea. Given the stresses I had and not willing to put that on my wife, I sold off my collection. Fast forward 8 year of not owning any reptiles, I'm back from my second overseas assignment, ending my military career and heading back to Central Florida.
Given my past experience, I intend to have more discipline and maintain a smaller collection while concentrating on a few species and projects at the core of my interest.
