New house for my mack snows

I decided i didnt want to "hide" my beautiful mack snows in the rack system, so i built them their own cage. made it out of acrylic, and made a stand out of oak with a granite top. i have a divider in there, and it will stay that way until they are big enough to breed. let me know what you think.

That looks really good! I want something like that for maybe a crested gecko with a top of course.

I like how one side is an exact mirror image of the other.

That would be pretty cool!

Great set up Justin! You really have a knack for building things!

Looks good :), are you using repti carpet for the substrate?, looks almost black, maybe just the pic.

it is carpet that you can probably find at any home depot. it comes in 8ft x 10ft rolls and is around $15 ( a LOT cheaper than repti carpet). It also comes in light gray. i checked it out, and called the manufacturer to see what kind of dyes and any chemicals they used making the carpet, and there were no harmful things, and i havent had any problems with it.

Looks great! However you may want a higher devider, it looks like they may be able to get over that if they climb on the pvc hide.

you are indeed correct. that was the only piece of plexi-glass i had laying around though, so i figure id try it. not even 20 minutes after putting them both in there they were on the same side. i removed the pvc hides in the middle until i can run get a new piece of plexi today.

How much would a 30 or 40 gal be? Even though i just got a new 40 breeder today your tanks are nice and you can never have too many tanks, untill they steal your bed. Then you got too many.

Haha, I'm gonna jump on the bandwagon. I'm curious what you would charge. I'm sure you don't have the time to be making so many tanks, but I'm interested in a larger tank in a couple months. If you don't wanna be doing this please don't feel obligated or feel bad saying no. Just curious.

Nice tank.

about $65 plus shipping at the time i made it. it all depends on how much acrylic costs as it changes frequently. the one i made uses 1/4" acrylic, and it is possible to use something thinner to reduce the cost.

it all depends on the dimensions. like i said above as well, it all depends on the going rate of acrylic, but the one you see is about 30g. so you can estimate around there.

I dont mind at all. after next week, i will be making as many tanks and aquarium sumps (filters) as i can because school is starting and im only taking classes on tues and thurs. read above for estimates. for a large tank, or any other for that matter, i would need to know the size, and i could give you a quote.

Also for those of you who want to give it a go, i may be able to post a "how-to build your own tank" thread next time i build one. Since the gecko tanks dont have to be water-tight like aqarium sumps do, you dont have to be as exact. just need to have a table saw with a good blade (lots of teeth) and a router with a carbide flush-cutting laminate blade. then you need of course your acrylic and weld-on (acrylic glue) and thats about it.

Justin--

For whatever reason, I cannot see any of the pics you post, not in this thread or the other one about your rack. Anyone else have that problem or any ideas for me??:main_huh:

I used to be able to see it, but now it won't show up. Not sure why...

mavman99.. if you want to see Justin's pics, try his website at the bottom of his posts. I think he has them all on there. It's a nice site, too.
