I thought about getting a leopard gecko several years ago and did a bunch of research and looking around, life got in the way and it didn't end up happening. Turns out this girl I'm hanging out with now had a leo and it has rekindled my interest again, so here I am.

I have had several salt water fish tanks over the years and currently have a couple small ones running in my room now so that is where most of my expertise is in things outside of my job. I am hoping that if I go through with this path that I will have just as much fun with leos as I do with reef tanks.

Welcome to GF. I got one leopard gecko 12 years ago and you don't want to know how many I have now. Continue to do your research, avoid buying from big box pet stores, ask questions and you'll have a great time.

Thanks, I tend to do a bit of research on things like this. I have been spending a decent bit of time in the housing and care sections of the forum looking at different ideas and different routes people take. I have also been looking around the classifieds seeing the different morphs available and the price ranges and finding out what I like.

Welcome to the group. They are fun little guys for sure. I started out with aquariums and I still keep a few because I enjoy them also.

Prices will vary a lot but keep your eyes open for a local breeder you can get some nice deals. Keep in mind the higher prices also mean you have more of a guarantee of getting what they are labeled as, so less risk of unknown morphs.

Thanks for the info guys. If I do follow through with getting a leo I'm going to pick up another 20g long and get it completely ready to go and set up how I like before purchasing a leo that way I'm 100% ready to go.

Welcome! Leos are definitley awesome little guys for sure. They are also very easy to keep, making them excellent first-time reptiles. As stated above, avoid purchasing from big-box retailers. They often know nothing about the animals, and tend to spread misinformation. I learned this the hard way! Good job doing your research. Good luck!
