Hello! I just got my first crested gecko last night, long story short.......he was free in my neighborhood, and though I didn't plan on getting one, i've always wanted one and I have other reptiles so I decided to go get him! He came with his cage which is 18x20x24 I think. He is currently eating repashy mango food, and I plan on insects every week.

His cage smelled really bad like febreeze but I rinsed off his decor and wiped off the glass and it smells better.

I do have some questions!!!

1. Feeding: Repashy every night and insects once a week? Just a few?

2. Humidity: Is a mister worth it? Does misting twice a day sustain the right humidity?

3. Any ways to bond with him a little more? I can handle him, but he doesn't enjoy it.

4. Will he eat dwarf white isopods I put in his enclosure?

5. Is any lighting required? From my research, no....

Thank you so much everyone! I have attached a few pics of his setup and him! I love him so much already :)

Very cute gecko! Here are my answers to your questions:

1. Feeding: Repashy every night and insects once a week? Just a few?
I feed CGD (I actually use Pangea, but Repashy is fine) twice a week and insects1-2 times a week

2. Humidity: Is a mister worth it? Does misting twice a day sustain the right humidity?
I have 10 cages to mist and I use a hand mister, but I get the kind with a latch so you don't have to pump it constantly, you just pump to get it started and then latch it in the "on" position. You can get one from a home supply store like Home Depot. For cresties, ideally the humidity goes up at night and then gradually goes down. I only mist in the evening. Usually there are still drops of water on the leaves the next morning.

3. Any ways to bond with him a little more? I can handle him, but he doesn't enjoy it.
Some of them never like it and some tolerate it. I have one crestie that I've had for 18 years and he likes to follow me from in his cage. He doesn't mind being held. I have another one that hates being held. Be there and talk to him and handle him briefly and see how it goes.

4. Will he eat dwarf white isopods I put in his enclosure?
I have isopods in a number of my enclosures and I've never seen the geckos eat them, but I could be wrong. There's no lack of them, though.

5. Is any lighting required? From my research, no....
I have plants so I have lights. Dusting the feeders with supplement and using the CGD should supply them with the calcium and vitamin D3 they need. It seems that more people are using lights with their nocturnal reptiles but I don't think it's required.
