very nice gecko and tank. Is that the mayan exo terra tank?

No, it's the rainforest kit.

The substrate that came with it is a cocofiber brick, and I've been reading that owners have stayed away from that type of substrate for young cresties. Now I have to go back and change it!!

oh nice set up it might be a little big for that little guy though. Every thing iv read online and on here says if they are under 20 grams they should be in the big critter keeper. Its 10 bucks at ***** and ********. Reason being is they might not be able to find there food.

Nice little crestie.

How big is that exo? I'm also a bit concerned it may be a bit too large for a baby that small. In large setups tiny babies can have problems finding their food. I might consider moving him into a large critter keeper temporarily, at least until he is large enough for a full sized setup(20 grams or so).

yeah... ive just read that other members have recommended that as well. its a 12x12x18 enclosure. please get back to me about what you think about that. i also thought about zip tying 2 water bottle caps (one at mid level, and the other at the upper most branch) and putting some canned crickets so it can feed

first crested geckos eat a powdered diet they eat mostly fruits its called crested gecko diet. you can feed them like 5 crickets a week dusted. and u should def use a smaller cage for ur gecko. get the big critter kepper there 10 bucks and are decent size till ur crested gets to 20 grams then u can move him into the big cage.

A 12X12X18 is a little big for a baby that little, I'd move it to a critter keeper for now.

Canned crickets are no good for crested geckos. Just feed it crested gecko diet, that's everything it needs. You can feed crickets occassionally(live) as a treat but they don't need them.

i just got back from the shop and purchased a medium critter keeper for it (11.5Lx7W.5x8H). i hope this is big enough for it now

That should be fine. I keep babies up to 15 grams in the small size critter keepers, then move them to the large, then their adult cages. You could easily just move him straight to the 12X12X18 once he hits 15 grams though, that would be fine.

So I finally weighed the little guy. He's weighing in at a whopping 3 grams. About how long would it take until he/she gets to 15-20 grams?

It can vary a bit, but at 3 grams I'd say the little guy is only a couple of weeks old at the max. On average cresties hit 15-20 grams by 4-5 months of age, so another 3.5 months at the least.
