No, I wouldn't think that the "pollution" would have anything to do with it

Got me confused.

I haven't been on this forum very long. Maybe I have the wrong idea what a group of minds joining experiences with the same hobby or business is supposed to accomplish. I thought this forum was a way to share similar experiences or knowledge that might in some way help solve problems.
If a person does not want opinions, maybe they should not start a thread on it. Other wise they should be prepared to listen, and go accordingly to their own mind. No matter if one person thought the photo looked like a kangaroo or another figured it for something else, it was still a birth defect that would be quite an advantage to learn what is causing them. This is not the first. And it won't be the last if we don't at least listen and share how the process went. Being offended by opinions will stop the opinions coming in...That's not the answer to having a forum. Take care. / HJ

Hey Rene,

You really don't have any luck with this pairing. I don't know if you do this pairing (E x bb) only with one female.

I assume you do because you get healthy animals from the same father with other females.

Isn't it possible that their genetics just don't match up? that for some reason the unborn babys are much more vulnerable for deformations due to the genetics? Perhaps you can test it with another bb female?

I can only think of that reason because I know you also have quit some experience. Mistakes in water quality or substrate seem highly unlikely, also due to the fact your babies from other pairings hatch perfectly.

Last year I made a pairing with a TUG snow male and a patternless female. From this pairing I got 10 eggs - only one of them hatched. And that baby had eye- deformities. The other eggs died after 2-4 weeks (developping just stopped) and three eggs developped until 6-8 weeks and then died. I found deformed babies, all snow.
Same male with another female gave perfect healthy babies.

I wont pair the patternless female again because I am convinced that there is a problem with her.

All other eggs that were incubating at the same time were o.k.!
