New owner of a rescued Crested Gecko

Hello!

I'm quite new here to Crested Gecko's and I came here to get some tips!

I received a gecko from a concerned mother who's teenager was not taking care of the critter at all last week. I received a 20 gallon tall tank, 1 splintery branch, a clamp lamp (no heat), and a mister. The cage was gross, it was covered in water stains (from the mister), the paper towels at the bottom hadn't been changed in ages (they were black and brown), there was a rusty tack, some school supplies (like pencils and pens), and oddly enough some quarters all at the bottom. The lady said the gecko hadn't been fed for quite some time and it was beginning to stink in there. She didn't do anything to the cage she just promptly dragged the whole thing in and left.

I have previously owned reptiles (a couple of snakes and frogs), which she knew, but I had to get rid of them upon me entering college. I now just have my corn snake and this gecko.

The sad thing is about 1 year old, its quite skinny, I can see shoulder blades and pelvis at the skin. It honestly looked like death. I bought Repashy Crested Gecko Super Foods, some calcium powder w/ crickets, and some wax worms (for weight gain). I just started gut stuffing the crickets but I have been feeding the gecko repashy (with a little honey to entice it to eat again), I also blended some mangoes/peaches/pineapple/apple leftovers I had in the fridge and been spoon feeding him that. He looks a lot better but I want some other feeding opinions? Hopefully I'm doing stuff right here.

As of now, since it is thanksgiving break, I've gotten rid of the water stains and will be making a vivarium set up similar to how my corn snake is set up. If anyone would like to post their crested's vivariums I'd be delighted to see them!

Thanks for reading my block of a story and future thanks to anyone who can give me tips!

welcome to the forum and congrats on your new gecko. It sounds as if you're doing things right. It may be helpful at first to focus on the Repashy as opposed to the fresh fruit since the Repashy has the nutrients that the geckos needs. If he really seems to go for the fruit, maybe you could mix a little Repashy Calcium plus with it.
