I took a few pics last night at feeding time. The flash made a few too bright and others are a bit dark, but they were too cute not to share.

None took. ha

One of the pinks busted, so I tried rubbing the inner goo on the male's nose, and he still wasn't having it.

When I asked them last week, they said to try using tongs or just holding a live pink in front of them for a feeding, then the next feeding hold a F/T. I don't think that'll work, and personally, I'd rather not use live period. My ball python won't eat F/T (at least not for extended periods, I'm lucky to get him to eat F/T for a few feedings in a row). Plus, most places in my area only have F/T pinkies. There's one place that sometimes have live, but this last time they didn't. You have to catch them at the right time before they freeze them, and I really don't want to buy a breeding pair of mice.

This sucks. I guess I should have asked before I bought her. Now I'm attatched. If I don't get her to eat by next week, I'll go with live. I have to drive 30+ minutes one way to buy one though.:main_angry:

I ♥ Stokely!! Gorgeous Sand boas!!

Don't give up on the feedings yet! You can try dipping the pinky in chicken broth. IDK but that worked with 3 of my baby boas before. You might have to de-brain them. Which really sucks and is super gross, in my opinion, but it most likely will work.

I know that there is a big disadvantage to feeding live, but since these guys are eating pinks, they won't cause any damage to your snake. I feel as along as they are eating, that's really all that matters. Once you establish a solid eating schedule with them, then you can try with f/t or p/k, kwim?? Good luck!!

De-braining may work, but I figured the busted gut would be sufficient. It was an accident it busted, but it didn't work. I'm going to stick with the F/T one more week, then maybe try to see if I can find live. I just have to catch this one store at the right moment before they freeze them. I hate going there because they never go by set prices, and add random things to the bill. Last time, I apparently bought 7 of something and the most I bought was 6 pinkies. They add random 1.00 and 0.75 and whatever they feel like when adding it all up. I spent $20 on 6 pinks, 1 hopper, and 1 small/medium rat. It was ridiculous.

You may want to do the pair of mice deal and just breed them. Freeze most of the babies so you'll have them. *shrugs*

I found someone local that was giving away free mice, hoppers, and pinkies, but the person never responded to my inquiry. I may email him again. He said he'd have about the same number each month.

Kristi, have you gotten your kenyan to eat yet?

I'm going to try to get live this weekend. It's been 3 weeks and they're not taking to the F/T at all... I'm going to try to get them steady on live pinkies and try to convert them over...

Nope.:( I've tried leaving her overnight with it in a deli cup, having the guts coming out, and chicken broth. Next try is live.

Stinks.... I have decided that I won't purchase snakes that are under 6 months old (or right around there) if I have a choice. My male limburg was about 5 months when I got him, and he was not steady of F/T said the breeder, but I've never had problems with him.

I just hope the pet store has live pinkies Friday, or I guess I'll be buying a male and female mouse, which I'm not thrilled about, especially because that's even longer before I'd have live pinkies to offer.

My orange female has been in shed since I got her. I finally had to help her out last night because she had shed her nose for some time now, and that's as far as she got. She was a little lethargic, but was great after I got most of the shed off. I'm hoping she just didn't feel good with the old shed, and it wasn't that she was frustrated at me so was moving around a lot more. I'm going to have to keep a close eye on her now.

She finally ate! I got a live pinky yesterday and put it in a deli cup with her. It took her about 4-5 hours, but she finally ate it. I'll probably keep up with live until she's a bit bigger and then try to switch her over. I'm just glad to get some food into her.

That's exciting!!

I'm going to grab a male and female mouse tonight and a few live pinkies if I can find some around town. I may be driving all over the place though. I will have to let you know how it goes.

I'm going to do like you and stick with live until they're a little older and I may have a better chance at converting them.

After about 45 minutes to an hour, the orange female ate. An hour and a half later, I'm still waiting on the other two.

I've got my male and female mouse to start breeding for pinks. I may have another mouse breeding if the hopper/small mouse I bought for my frog is female.
