Thank you! Once I get my order of flexwatt in I'll take pictures for you to see.

Ummmmm How to wire a rack like this with Flexwatt? heheheh

Check out this pdf file from the manufactures of Flexwatt.

One thing you may want to consider is adding a switch to each row of tape. You can then shut down each individual shelf and save a bit on hydro.

I learned something today.

If hydro means water in the US then I guess a lot of people thought I was out to lunch huh.

In Ontario and Quebec Hydro equates to Electicity as most of their electricity is produced through Hydro Electric Generating Stations. In Alberta most of our electricity comes from Coal or Natural Gas Generation. So I guess I would have to say "save a bit on gas..." :main_laugh:

Sorry for being WAY, WAY, WAY OT here...back to your regularly scheduled topic...

depends on what you use. as far as heat tape, its 2.10 a foot. I used half inch plyboard, which was $16 a sheet, built an 88 container rack with $104 in wood and screws, costed around $200 for heat tape though. As far as your temperature controler, they range from $30-i believe as high as $400

PS. Thanks for the electricity explanation:)

How much would you say the who total cost for building this?

Building material
heat tape
and temp control

Buidling materials cost me about $150 (can use cheaper brand)
Heat tape $50.40
Thermostats (2) $150

Shipping for heat tape and thermostats about $20?

So it cost me about $370, which is about the same as what you would pay for a rack half the size without a thermostat. I figure I saved about $400 doing it myself.

I was just showing this rack to someone on here and thought I'd bump this baby up. I have replaced just about all my other racks with APs but this one is still in service with no sagging and I just love it! It's a little heavy and going to be a pain to move, but it's worth it to me. :)

Thanks for bumping! This has given me a great idea on how to build a new rack.
