Your carrot tail looks big. She is probably a year or more. But I know some geckos reach full size when they are still young, so its hard to tell if you don't already know.

Hey what's up,

I have a quick question, is it ok to put all three females together or keep them in separate tanks??
I haven't read anything about females being aggressive to each other. But I would like to get some opinions..

Thanks!!

It really depends on their personality. What size tank were you planning on putting them in? Some females do not like company and prefer to be by themselves. I have 2 females that tolerate each other so they can live together. By putting them together you also run the risk of one being bullied out and getting as much food as the other two.

I was thinking while they are small in a 20 gallon till I go get the 44 gallon I saw.. I have put them together for a couple days and they look good, they eat fine and I haven't see any marks on any of them.. and wen I feed them I watch till they are completely done..

I think you could put two in the 20 but putting the third in is going to be too crowded. And until you get hides for everyone in there its going to be pretty cramped. How soon are you getting the 44? They would be ok in there for a few days as long as you keep doing what your doing and watching them but not as a permanant home. I really like your SHTCT! Very nice for a petsmart gecko!

I have a simple and maybe stupid question.. I have read about the heat pads and that they should be put on the bottom, but I also see that other Leo owners put it on the side of the tank???? I don't understand how that helps put they're bellies warm.. and if its put on the bottom will the carpet I bought from petsmart absorb the heat so it can be absorbed by the leo's? ?? I want to buy a heat pad for the second tank but the heat lamp works pretty good.. can some one please help me?

Thanks!!! :)

I have seen the side configuration but have never used it. I figure put the heat where they need it. Plus you have one less vantage point into your tank if you side-mount it. The repti-carpet will transmit heat nicely and evenly so no worries there.

Heat mats/pads/ect. should always be put on the bottom of the tank on one end in order to get the required heat gradient.

I think you should also buy something to control the heater( dimmer switch, thermostat etc.) just in case it gets too hot.

Its coconut shavings, I read and heard its better than sand so I put a bit they went right to it.. so what you think about it? This should be fine until I custom make the hides..

I personally think nothing edible to prevent impaction. You can use paper towels but that seems wasteful. Reptile Carpet gets dirty and is a pain to clean. I personally think tiles is best because it is cheaper( you don't have to keep buying like paper towel) and easier to clean. Those are just my opinions though.

yeah I would ditch the coconut fiber. You can get tile at home depot or lowes for cheap. Lowes will cut it for you (most will) just make sure you have the right inside demensions.
