You can't sex young geckos just by looking at them.

What you'll want to do is get a jeweler's loupe, place the gecko on a piece of glass or clear plastic (like in a deli cup container) and look above the vent of the gecko for pores.

If the baby was born in October, I'm sure it probably hasn't had enough time to develop them either way. Some babies seem to have them early on, some develop them later in life. I've had luck with my animals typically deciding to be boys around 5-7 grams. Though I know of someone who had a female turn male around 12 or 13 grams (can't remember).

In this photo I was certain this kid was going to go female. There are no pores along the scales- but this was at 5 grams. Sure enough at 6 grams, he developed pores (still looking for some darn pore shots though).

As stated, your gecko is more than likely too young to sex. Sometimes these guys will start to show pores as small as 3g, but most often around 5g you start to see them. But there are instances where males take a long time to show pores, I had one not show pores as late as 12g. I purchased another from a girl who checked at 14g and no pores, had not checked them since, at 17g she sold the gecko to me as a female, I checked when it arrived and I had a 17g male, so that goes to show you even at 14-17g pores can arrive late. Which is why you dont see seasoned good breeders selling for sure females under 18g.
