the hides were real easy and basically they're made from polystyrene covered in layers of grout

Have added pics of how I made the top cave/hides ~ pics aren't great but they'll give you an idea
I use polystyrene cut and stuck together in the rough shape I want then covered firstly in a layer of PVA glue which is allowed to dry then I start building up layers (usually 5-6) using a mix of tile grout powder mixed with water and PVA (consistency of runny custard) allowing each layer to dry; finally I use children safe paints which I smudge on with a sponge before giving a last coat of PVA and sprinkle with chinchilla dust; lastly I use sandpaper to scruff the surface and bring out paler highlights .....
