New Website Design! Need your feedback...

Marcia,

The site looks great! Unfortunately, IE and Firefox will never look the exact same. Most of the time it's IE that will give you problems as Firefox is more forgiving. As long as it looks good in IE, it will usually look OK in Firefox.

Also, many online WYSIWYG web editors are a pain. The best thing to do is learn a few html tags to position your picture and text the way you like. You can also format your page in frontpage or other editor and copy the code into your page.

Actually, the design looks OK in IE and not in Firefox. I copied all the HTML from the new site and put it on my FrontPage program, fixed the issues, and put it back on the new web design. Now the web company is telling me that since I messed up the original design, they will no longer assist me or release the FTP address unless I pay for 1 year of web hosting with them. GRRRRRRRRR!!!!

I usually find more difficult to adapt the designs to Firefox than to IE... I would say that Firefox is stricter than IE, I've had some errors that IE accepted but FF not.

That sucks Marcia, I hope you and the company come to a fair agreement...

The design is really cool. I would make the background darker than the foreground, I think it would look better than just using the same color.

Marcia,
I'm sorry you are having such a hard time with them. To me it looks fairly similar in Firefox 2 and IE 7. Older versions though might have issues. When I design a site I always design it to Firefox because if it looks good there it will in IE.

Why can't you just copy the site HTML and paste it into Frontpage (like you did) and upload it to your current hosting? I have never dealt with design places like this (I always make my own from scratch) so it might be against their terms. Best of luck Marcia!

Loving it Marcia. It's framiliar which is great to us who have visited your site so many times, we still know where to go! I love how you can view each leopard gecko section seperatly, or all together. I hate having to click on every seperate section. I want to see everything you got, all at once!

Altho, I can't seem to find your slurry recipe on there under info? Will you be adding that? I think thats an important thing to have on your site :)

That is exactly what I am doing now. The only problem is, that I do not have access to the new website's design images... like the background or the header which has the navigation image in it. I could get them if I had FTP access, but they want me to pay extra for additional design service and want me to pay for a full year of hosting at an increased $ amount up front to get it. They won't let me have them, even though I paid for them.

That is outrageous.. I am sorry that you are going through it.

Have you thought about getting your site hosted somewhere else? I host mine through Go Daddy and I must say when I have needed their help. They were extremley helpful and didn't treat me like an idiot. :D

It seems like the design company just wants more money.

If you need help.. Let me know.. And I know there are plenty of other people that would help out too.

We can get around that. In firefox open the link in your first post where they have the new design.

Do the following: right click > save page as (just save it to the desktop for easy access.)

What this does is save the current HTML page that's being viewed as well as a folder that contains all the images for that page. You have to open the folder and arrange the images in frontpage so that everything links up with whats in the HTML. You'll have to do this process for each page to make sure you get all the images. If you are having problems with this let me know and I'll put all the images in a zip file and send them to you.

I'm going to try that, Cody! Thanks!!! I have been very happy with the hosting company that hosts my current (old) website, but this 'new' design is supposedly only good if the company hosts it themselves. This is something they failed to tell me when I paid them for the new website.
