Hi All!
My fiance and I just rescued 2 geckos. 1 male fat tailed leopard, and a blind albino female. We are first time gecko parents, but in love so far. Any advice would be great as we are just starting out and both of our babes were highly neglected. Especially our female, Boga. She is still very thin. Thanks!

Where to begin? Lol
How are you housing them?
I suggest dusting(Calcium powder with D3) when you feed them, it sounds like the previous owner might not have. Also you don't absolutely have to stay away from loose substrate(sand, etc.) but it might save you a major headache x) they can't digest it well and get clogged up ^.^ when you feed them, gut loading your feeders ensures they will be of nutritional value for your geckos. :) humm.. a moist hide(for shedding), cool hide, and warm hide for them. Also, a Under tank heater is needed because they need belly heat to digest (light are unneeded and can be a nuisance for your gecko). When feeding, make sure not to drop some of whatever you're feeding and leave, it can lead to big problems.. I feed my leo mealworms but there are locusts, crickets, horn worms(I think) and dubia roaches too. Occasionally you can feed fattening foods like silk worms, wax worms, etc.
That's all I can think of right now other than making sure to give fresh water every day. :)

And since one is blind, you can use tweezers to feed her.
How is she around the other one?
Also, are they both fat tails?

Congrats on the new additions. It's awesome that you saved them from less-than-ideal conditions! Kudos on that!
Can you post some photos of your gecko setup and enclosure? Welcome to the forum!! :)

Sarlacc, our male, is a fat tail. Boga, our female, I'm not sure. I believe she is but was so thin when we got her. Plus she is albino. We so, however, have her feeding herself now. She won't even take food from us anymore. We've been having a few issues with mating. Sarlacc wants it, Boga doesn't. Assuming she isn't ovulating. I'll post pictures of the tank soon!

I wouldn't breed a rescue female, especially if she is skinny. It would be really dangerous for her. And as long as they are together the male will try to breed. This could be stressing her out to the point where she is not eating. Keep them separated and she may start eating on her own.

I second Amanda's suggestion about separating them for the females health.

Ok so Sarlacc finally backed off. Then the last 2 days started up again. Boga has been very healthy, eating a lot, and as playful as can be being that she is blind. Then over the last 2 days ive noticed some white dots on her, and that she is kind of flakey. (Keep in mind she is albino) She hasn't shed at all in the almost month we have had her. I just got home and now she has spot on her with blood. I can't tell if they are bites or blisters. The tank temp and humidity are exactly what they should be. What could this be and what can I do? I can not get an appointment until Friday. Should I soak her? They have been together for over 4 years- why would they start fight now? HELP!

OK. Can you take some photos of her?
Do the white spots look like bugs? Maybe they could be mites? How much blood is there? How big is the wound?
You could try soaking her in a bactine solution. Where are the wounds?

The marks are all over. Her tail is the worse. But her head and body too. Her tummy looks blue so I'm worried she's impacted. But she's still eating. Just barely pooping. Shes been having white stuff all around her vent too. I have them separated right now in case it's him doing this to her. Hope the pics help. I'm really worried. She was doing so well.

I can't see the pictures but what you're probably seeing are scratches from the male trying to grab her. They really need to be separated. For all you know, the male may have scratched her up every year at this time (mating season). Or else, he's finally getting decent care and is healthy enough to be interested. They are not social creatures and will likely not "miss" each other.

They are separated now. She is sleeping in her own hut again, which she hadnt been. I am still worried about her potentially being impacted. She has white stuff around her vent and hasn't pooped. I think her belly is a little blue as well, but I didnt want to over handle her with all of the sores she has. If she is impacted how can I tell and what can I do?

Is the blue color new or did you just notice it? I'm fostering a leo that I think is a blizzard, very light color so the organs inside him would show through as a blue color, especially since he was so skinny when I got him. I can't see your pictures either, but are you sure the white stuff isn't shed or urates? Make sure she has a humid hide with moist moss inside, since she may be a bit dehydrated. That could be why she isn't pooping as much.
