Out of curiosity, why do you want rid of the tile? Most people do not recommend sand, as it does pose some serious risks if husbandry, nutrition, moisture, and health are not 100% spot on. If anything is off, the gecko can very seriously suffer for it, so most feel it's not worth the risk.

Consider finding a place that will cut you some tile to fit better. It's likely much better than sand.

You need a under tank heater. You can get them anywhere on the internet or any pet store. You want the under tank heater to take up a 1/3 of your tank. The tank heater are stuck to the underside of your tank. Heat tape is also a option, but more so used for rack set ups. I prefer to install the sticky heat pad to the back corner of the tank and leave one hide over the heater and a second hide of to the left of the first hide a little further from the heater. This will give the leopard geckos the option of a temp they prefer. You also need a thermostat for the under tank heating pad. This you dial in the 90 degrees. The thermostat should come with a probe to put under your hide on the heat side. Put some tape down over the probe and this will always you to get the proper temp dialed in. I can try to take a picture of my set ups or I can refer you to a website that has some great photos. The manufactures of the thermostats, under tank heater option, and other ways to accomplish this are endless, but this is a quick easy way to ensure you your leopard geckos remain happy, healthy, and easy to maintain. Let me know if you have any other ?'s

I forget the actual size for that one but if you are looking at the different sizes find the one that take up the back 1/3rd of your tank. It should be the Medium maybe 20gal is how they size I think.

Well, that's a 30 gallon breeder tank. I ended up getting a rated 20 gallon Uth and put it on one side, then I used a small UTH next to the other uth closer to the moist hide to try and keep that a little warmer. I have a 20 gallon long, but its really not that big of a difference in size. You could go bigger if you want. It's a little trial and error, and some minimal lighting can help bring up temp a bit if needed.
