Newbie needing help!!!

Hey, I need help!!! Lighting/heating is confusing me!
I am getting a leopard gecko an I am struggling to figure out what lighting to use. I have a thermostat to control the heat, do I use a basking light only? Should I have a ceramic heating light as well?!

I’ve had my 2 for almost a year and only turn on the white light during the day and no light at night. I have a heating pad that sticks to the bottom of the aquarium to keep them warm.
