Hello. I am a newbie to lizards. I have always wanted to get a lizard
and after keeping salt water fish for over 20 years I now have a 75 gallon
tank which I would like to use. I am looking at the crested lizard and just
began my quest for information. I chose this mainly because I don't have
to feed crickets daily which my wife was against. A lady at ++++++++ told
me I would need 2 heating mats for the bottom and some mulch stuff and
thats all the info I have so far. Any help would be appreciated as well as
where I should post here. I do plan on attending a reptile convention in
october to actually purchase my animals but would like everythibg set up
prior. Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to GF and the world of geckos. I assume that you mean you're interested in "crested geckos". Don't go by anything the people at the big chain pet stores say. For example, crested geckos actually don't need any heat as long as your room temperature is reasonable. Google "crested gecko care" and read care sheets. There will be many points where the care sheets will agree a some where they won't. Those differences are good things to ask about on this forum. Get the book "Crested Geckos" by Philippe de Vosjoli (ISBN: 1-882770-80-3).

Where in PA are you? I have a daughter in Philly and a son in Bethlehem.
