No leo yet, but I want one!

So I've been wanting a leo for about a year now. My mom wouldn't allow reptiles, so I've been using the time to collect supplies for My Future Leopard Gecko. I just got a 20L visionarium a few days ago, and I moved out a few weeks ago, so now the only thing I need now is to order gutload and multivitamins and calcium from progeckos.com, and get some actual food (crickets, worms, etc), and... to get the gecko iteself! I'm trying to adopt, but on craigslist people are usually quite unreasonable with their "adoption fees"... but hopefully something good will come up! I just want a nice pet. =)

Since I should be getting the leo soon, I thought I might as well join a forum now. Maybe you all... have advice on how to go about adopting a leo?

Congrats on the decision to get a gecko :) They are super interesting little pets, and they have a lot more personality than people give them credit for.

This forum has a small adoption section, and you can look around and see if anyone if giving a gecko away to a good home in your area. You could also check out petfinder.com, and google around for any reptile rescues in your city. As an alernative, you can always search the websites owned by members here and see what they're selling. I've gotten one gecko this way that was being sold as a pet only because she's a little wrinkly, but she's got to be my secret favorite :D

Good luck finding your new pet!

Welcome to GF and yes congratulations on deciding to get a gecko.
Have you chosen a morph you were looking for yet? There are so many you will be flabbergasted.
Good luck in finding one of these amazing creatures :main_thumbsup:

I'm not looking for any special morph; I like the "normal" ones just fine, only ones I really dislike would be the blizzards or whatver the see-through ones are, so... that's part of the reason just any sort of adoption would be okay for me. Although... having a gecko that doesn't mind being handled would really be a plus! Having only fish at the moment, my apartment doesn't allow cats like I'm used to and I'd like a slightly more tactile animal if possible... but if not, that's fine too.

So I guess I'm saying... personality is more important for me than the morph. =)

Well whatever morph you get you will have tonnes of personality.
Search around you are bound to find normals, quite cheap.
Again, Good luck!

If you decide to search sites that sell them you can always e-mail the owner. Most people will know their geckos enough to give you suggestions on personality. But for the most part, out of my 8 leos only one has been really shy, but even he's coming around the more I handle him gently and feed him. So you have good chances of finding a nice one :)

Oh, this is great, someone on this forum offered to adopt to me two females... in a city I just happen to be visiting for labor day weekend. Fate! I hope my friend doesn't mind carpooling with two lizards on the way back, lol!
