I grew some wheat grass to feed to the roaches and mealworms, thinking it'll provide good nutrition to the feeders, and will so benefit my geckos. Well, I harvested 4 grass last night to test feed to my feeders; turns out absolutely NO ONE likes the wheat grass!! This is so disappointing! When I put the grass in the roach bin, the roaches did check it out, but they didn't even bother to take a bite. Even the mealworm and mealworm beetles that will chew on everything ignored the grass!

I'm going to cut the grass into small bits and mix into their gutload; I wonder if the dried grass is as good as the fresh ones?

Have you tried locusts or grasshoppers? They DEVOUR grass, and are said to be quite healthy, maybe you could buy some at a pet store until you spend all the wheat grass...

Ungrateful bugs!

You can make juice out of it. :D I've seen it before.

I used to work at a smoothie bar that ground up wheat grass to make into a shot. It smelled nice - like freshly cut grass - but it made me nauseous to drink it.

Wheat grass is VERY good for you. One ounce is equal to a pound of leafy greens. It has more antioxidants, vitamins and minerals than anything on the market today. It's considered a live food which means it loses it's nutrition a few hours after it's been cut. It's still plenty nutricious (spelling!) even then though. If I could get my crickets/mealies/superworms to eat it, I'd so feed it to them. I'd have one healthy gecko!

I guess about the only thing that holds wheat grass back from being successful is the taste. Blech!
