My two males make whistling 'chirps' at me for no apparent reason - I think they're just talkative. My female only makes noises if I pick her up when she doesn't want to be held (the croaking sound they make when they're irritated). Leos can also hiss and scream. (I haven't personally had a leo scream at me but I had a very young baby hiss at me once.)

As far as activities go..I consider handling a activity. I mean, you can't exactly play fetch with a leo or anything. Not sure how to answer you on that one!

Mine like to peep or squeak or squawk or growl when things aren't going their way. If I have my one female on my hand and she can't move in a particular direction that she wants to right away, she'll make angry sounds like I'm the one causing the problem. It's pretty funny.

lol Beau squealed at me one night as I was putting her back in her tank for no reason at all and then one night I was trying to get her turned around when she was out and she got mad because I wouldn't let her jump down and she yelled at me then:main_laugh::main_laugh:

My gecko squeaks at me, I think because she is scared or nervous.
Its very cute though.

I don't think geckos brains are "wired" to interact with us for games, unlike dogs or cats, etc. I think they have the basic survival instincts...eat, sleep, drink, potty, breed, shed...in fact, too much handling can very much stress them out. In order to play a game, or to be entertained someone has to feel pleasure or excitement, and the most excited I've seen my geckos is when I throw some wax worms in the tank lol.

LeapinLizards pretty much has it - My understanding is that geckos have basic associative reasoning, but not much else - so they can probably learn simple "tricks" the same way a goldfish can ("If I do X when I see the big hand from the sky I get a worm. Worms are yummy, so when I see the hand I'll do X. Oh, did I mention I like worms?").

There's a really 'fun' game Beau likes to play with me. I'll get her out of the tank and put her on the front of my shirt, she will climb up to my shoulder and sit there till she has lulled me into a false sense of security and then try to run down my back and jump off me...... seems to be one of her favorite games :main_yes::main_yes: ROFL

I've heard 1-3 times a day is okay. If they're younger, you want to handle them a little bit so they get used to humans. As long as they get long periods of downtime (3+ hours) and you're gentle while holding them. They will eventually grow to "like" you.

I hear the hiss and squwak when my guys are startled and sometimes while I'm on the
puter, they want out.
