:main_thumbsdown:well on the 16th British Columbia Canada came up with a new law that you are not alloud breeding so called alien species witch are anything not native to canada and also banned a ton of different reptiles like many different types of boas and pythons so i have been saving up my money for about a year because i wanted to start my own breeding project and now i am not alloud breeding any of my geckos unless i get a breeding permit and to get a breeding permit you need to be 19 and have a buissness to get on and im only 13 im just real bummed does anyone else think these rules are stupid:main_thumbsdown::main_thumbsdown:

Manitoba is working on passing similar laws right now too. I'm seriously hoping they listen to all of the protesting reptile owners here, I think it's ridiculous! It will be illegal to breed ANY animal without a permit, as well you can only have something like 2 females of each species of animal. I can understand that for large animals, and maybe cats and dogs, but small animals? It includes fish too, and I've been breeding angelfish for years!

wow, i heard bout this, but i never thought in a million years that it would be talking about leopard geckos!! I must say, in some ways this is a good thing and in some its not soo good.. for the big time breeders - i think you guys should jus go get a license and do it legit. I understand why they are reinforcing these laws, its because many many many people go out and buy reptiles, not thinking about their needs, how big they will grow, or how long they live... THOUSANDS of reptiles, bunnies, fish ect are dumped in residential parks all the time.. It's really sad!! SPCA, animal shelters, reptile rescues , they are soooo full right now, i totally think certain animals like iguanas and monitors for example should be illegal without a license, I've seen soooooo many of these reptiles dumped off at Reptile Havens it's not even funny!! Look at how many kids under age 18 are buying pythons, iguanas, ect ect...

I'm actually pretty sure that only if the python/boa reaches 3m you cant breed them past 2010. This does not affect select species of pythons or boas. Listed below is the species of witch you can't keep or breed. This does not affect some larger lizards (monitors) nor does it affect small pythons such as ball pythons as they do not reach 3m (10ft).

Order Crocodilia – [such as alligators, crocodiles and caimans]
All species of the Family Boidae that can grow to be more than 3 metres in length when measured from the front of the snout to the tip of tail when the animal is fully extended – [such as some boa constrictors and anacondas]
Family Crotalidae – [such as pit vipers] except Crotalus oreganus [western rattlesnake]
Family Elapidae – [such as death adders, cobras, kraits and mambas]
Family Helodermatidae – [such as gila monsters and beaded lizards]
All species of the Family Pythonidae that can grow to be more than 3 metres in length when measured from the front of the snout to the tip of tail when the animal is fully extended – [such as some pythons]
All species of the Family Varanidae that can grow to be more than 2 metres in length when measured from the front of the snout to the tip of tail – [such as Komodo dragons, crocodile monitors and water monitors]
Family Viperidae [such as true vipers]
Sub-family Aparallactinae – [such as mole vipers]
Sub-family Boiginae – [such as brown tree snake]
Sub-family Hydrophiinae – [such as sea snakes]
Sub-family Philodryas – [such as green racers]
Genus Dispholidus – [such as boomslang snakes]
Genus Thelotornis – [such as twig snakes]
